The Ray Liotta laugh

A few nights ago, feeling the effects of too much wine not napping, Sam decided to test out some material from his new standup act. A little background: Earlier that day I took Sam to our local Turtleback Zoo, where his requests to see the piggies were neverending. Suffice it to say, our zoo—like most—didn’t have a porcine section, which left Sam longing for more.

Counting, alphabet, etc.

Here are a couple videos -- one of Sam flat out denying my rendition of the alphabet song, the other of him demonstrating his counting skills.

The Future’s So Bright…

Sam’s been doing great. He’s talking like crazy and singing his new favorite song (to the tune of “Twinkle Twinkle”): Tiger, tiger, tiger bear, tiger, tiger, tiger bear. He’s also developed a pretty sinister sense of humor. Here’s a transcript from our walk yesterday:

Me: Sam, want to do the alphabet?
Sam: No.
Me: You sure?
Sam: A, B-No!
Me: OK.
Sam: A, B, C, D-No!
Etc.

Anyway, here are some pics I took last week in the back yard (sunglasses courtesy of Todd):

On the playground is where I spent most of my days

Here’s Sam demonstrating some serious agility at the playground.

It’s Nine O’Clock on a Saturday…

Julie and I took a quick trip to Montreal this weekend and came back with this gift for Sam. Just a quick clip of him playing with his new toy.

This is just silly.

A trip to “Papa Jaye-Jaye’s”

Sam has come to refer to Grandma and Grandpa using a single moniker: Papa Jaye-Jaye. We spent a Sunday there last month, and I’ve been too lazy to put together the pictures until now.

Saturday in the City

Saturday morning we took Sam to the Natural History Museum, where he enjoyed the life-size replicas of North American mammals, dinosaurs and, of course, “Asian Peoples.” Along the way, Sam tested out his newfound cab-hailing skills, and took on a new nickname in honor of his new surroundings. Afterward we swung over to Long Island City for brunch and a walk along the water with our friends Dan and Mary.

Christmas Vacation, Part 2

Here’s the rest, from our stay in the UK. Unfortunately, due to user error (incorrect settings on the camera) A LOT of photos were out of focus or blurred. This is the best of what was left – hopefully Sam’s UK family have plenty to fill the gaps.

Christmas Vacation, Part 1

We got back about a week ago from our whirlwind tour of the UK and Cyprus, and I’m just starting to get somewhere with the photos. On Sam’s first Transatlantic journey, his new passport got quite the workout: 16 nights, two countries and almost 24 hours in the sky.

We didn’t take many photos during the first leg of our UK trip (the first three days), so the first batch of photos are from Cyprus, where—despite Sam’s fever and general irritability—we had a great time spending time with Uncle Sheridan, Aunt Theopisti and Sam’s newest cousin, Orpheas. We even got to watch Sheridan curse out a scooter-ist in Cypriot! Very authentic!
